What I’m invested in
As an active investor myself, I bring practical experience and insight. Unlike some advisers who don’t have their own investments, my hands-on approach ensures I understand the intricacies of investments, providing a depth of knowledge and credibility to my guidance.
Residential Rentals
My husband (and silent business partner… he’s a shy engineer – what can I do?) Sean and I have 15 “doors” that we manage ourselves. We have bought and sold several rental properties over the years. Our current rentals are local, but we’ve owned rentals in 3 states over the years.
Syndications and Funds
Multifamily syndications were our first foray into passive investments. The word “syndication” always had a bad connotation with me (think crime syndicate…), but once I understood what it actually meant and how they work, I was excited to participate! Investing in a Fund was the next step up and l love to share about them both. We are currently invested in multifamily properties in Arizona and Nevada.
Mortgage Notes
Promissory Notes – mortgage notes, deeds of trust, and land contracts are excellent passive investments. As we are into our 50s (shhhhh), we sought investments that were not only more passive than rentals but also offered greater accessibility and autonomy compared to syndications and funds. This quest led us to promissory notes, where we found a balance of control and passivity that few know exists. Even as savvy investors, it took a bit for us to fully grasp notes, but once we did we immersed ourselves.
